Maintenance Visit to Grizzly Mtn.
After 2+ years of not climbing towers, I finally got to get back up in the air again.
One of the antenna support arms on ARRG’s K7RPT repeater system on Grizzly Mountain had broken, so I got the chance to climb up and fix it. Once I got to the antenna, I swung the support arm back into the tower so I could actually work on it without fighting it out in the open.
The small diameter clamping pipe that held the top support had failed, so I changed that out and installed a new bracket and new hardware. Once everything was back together, I was able to get the top support pole back up where it belonged and get the antenna supported again.
It was a pretty simple repair overall, but after more than two years of not being on a tower, it was really nice getting to climb again. Definitely missed being up there.
